I was thinking about canceling my tickets for this, the day after seeing what turned out to be one of my favorite movies of all time in The Substance (10 stars). I’m still reeling from the experience and figured it would take me a few days to get back to average moviegoing expectations.
But this turned out to be pretty great too
I knew nothing about the film and was treated to a rather interesting premise and performance. Halle Berry gives an excellent performance, as do both child actors, especially the one playing Nolan. I spent most of the run feeling so conflicted about each of the three characters.

The film plays with you, makes you guess and wonder. It has some good horror moments and effective jump shots. And every time I felt, "It’s good, not great" would hit me with a powerful scene that made me think, "No, it’s great."Overall, I think most horror fans will have a good time with this one.
