The images of exploding volcanoes are quite extraordinary, the accompanying soundtrack is suitably eerie, this documentary also shows the devastating effects that exploding volcanoes can have on human beings, animals & the countryside in their way. You just have to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Werner Herzog’s narration is also wonderful in its wonder, tenderness and tenderness; almost respect for the power of nature – & his admiration for the Krafft couple is quite obvious. He really regrets that they were killed in a Japanese eruption, because their archive seems unfinished, while their legacy lives on.
